The Bulgarian Union of Balneology and SPA Tourism (BUBSPA) is a national tourism association focused on representing the united interests of the Bulgarian balneo and SPA industry. Its aim is to prioritize the sector’s development as an essential part of the economy, create conditions for solidarity and collaboration among relevant public authorities, non-governmental organizations, and enterprises to advance balneo and SPA tourism in Bulgaria. BUBSPA is a non-governmental organization bringing together municipalities, investors, tour operators, experts, and organizations operating in the field of balneo, SPA, and wellness industries.
The Bulgarian Union of Balneology and SPA Tourism serves as the representative of the European SPA Association (ESPA) in Bulgaria. ESPA unites the parent organizations in the SPA sector from EU member countries. The primary goal of BUBSPA is to present and popularize Bulgaria as a modern balneo, SPA, and wellness destination on the Bulgarian and international tourism markets.
BUBSPA held its Tenth Anniversary Annual Congress on September 11th and 12th, 2023, in the municipality of Chepelare at the Pamporovo resort complex. The theme of this year’s Congress was “The Growing Potential of Health Tourism in Bulgarian Climate Destinations” and took place under the patronage of the Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Bulgaria in partnership with the Municipality of Chepelare and the European SPA Association.
During the official gala dinner in Pamporovo, the recipients of the annual awards of the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and SPA Tourism (BUBSPA) were announced.
The awards were presented in several categories, and here are the winners:
- Best Medical/SPA Concept: Sevtopolis Medical & SPA hotel
- Best Seaside SPA Hotel: Casa di Fiore Medical & SPA
- Best Urban SPA Hotel: The Five Elements in Sapareva Banya
- Most Innovative Medical/SPA Destination: St. St. Constantine and Helena Resort
- Best SPA Concept of the Year: Kings Valley Medical & Spa
In addition to the awards, the Congress program included current topics related to the effect of balneotherapy on the human body post-COVID-19 and the role of Bulgarian climate healing and balneo-climatic resorts in improving the health status of the population. The Congress stands as one of the most important events in the Medical/SPA and SPA sectors in Bulgaria for the tenth consecutive year.
